Day 3
Monday we left for the road trip to Makindu.
It is the half way point on the road from Nairobi to Mombasa. About a 2 1/2 hour drive.
This was the first time the team got to see live in Kenya up close.
The road sides are full of people walking or trying to sell their goods.
(Fruits, onions, wood work, coal, ect)
We checked into Hunter's Lodge. What a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert.
We were all so happy to be there. There were monkeys all over, and at least 5 different types of birds. We later came to hate the birds. It was mating season and they were

noisy through out the whole day and NIGHT!!
We arrived at Makindu's Girls home about noon.
Everyone was amazed at the wonderful lunch that was provided. So simple but so good.
The girls got to get out of school early to be with us.

We stared with a fashion show. There is no better way to open girls up then letting them dress up and parade around!!

They had so much fun!!
After the show we just hung out with the girls till it was time to go.
We left there to have dinner at Cheers. Yes it is named after the show but is NOTHING
like the show.
Everyone was so tiered. I am still amazed we made it through dinner.
DAY 4
Tuesday was a morning full of visiting the pre-primary schools of
Makindu and Kisingo.
Kisingo was first. After the students sang songs for us we then blessed them

with 2 songs lead by Amber and Kari. They loved them.

Then we took a Polaroid photo of each child (many had never seen a mirror let alone a photo of themselves)
We then helped them make frames for their photos.
This was a huge treat for them since most visitors never really stay long.
We then gave them a bag of rice and a bag of sugar to take home
and bless their families with.
The pastor of this area came out to meet us. He was so happy.
He said, you have used food to bring the love of God to our people,
now they will come to find out more and I will be able to bring salvation to them.
Lunch was at the girls home again. They girls got to leave school
early this day too.
So we had 3 projects we did with them....
1. Letter writing to their sponsors
2. Tye-Dye shirts
3. Prayer boxes.
In this one Amber shared a store from Francine Rivers book Redeeming Love.
Then she shared what it means to have a prayer box.
She did a great job. All the girls were very listening very closely.
Here are some of the sayings they put on their boxes:
"God, remember me once more."
"my name is Mary. I love God because he loves me. I will follow Him forever because he is my teacher."

We were all so touched. They day was a huge hit. We had a lot of fun.
The girls felt like they were loved and so did we.
Day 5 and 6 tomorrow....
